Popular Casino Betting Systems
Although every casino game has an edge that is impossible to counter, many bettors like to use betting strategies to combat the house edge and turn a profit. These betting strategies provide rules such as "double your bet after a loss" or "bet on these numbers", and try to guide players to profitable sessions. The important thing to remember though, is that betting systems cannot work. The house edge is always there, regardless of how you bet. Here are some of the more popular casino betting systems:
The D'Alembert system is a very old betting system that bases its bets on previous outcomes. As we know, each roll of the dice or spin of the wheel is an independent event, so this system has no merit.
The Iron Cross system is a Craps system that bets on every number except 7. So, the theory is that as long as the roll isn't 7, you win. Although this sounds good in principle, it really doesn't work out in the long run.
The Martingale system is definitely the most popular betting system out there. It basically says to double your bet every time you lose, so that when you do finally win you'll have a small profit. However, it doesn't work.
The Paroli system is similar to the Martingale system, but you double your bet every time that you win. This way you're always playing with house money. Once again though, it's a losing strategy.
This system is similar to the Paroli system. When you use the 1-3-2-6 system, you attempt to "lock in" profits so even if you lose you'll be up overall. It is an interesting theory, but of course it doesn't work in the long run.
Why Betting Systems Never Work
The reason that every betting system fails in the long run is because the house edge never changes. Regardless of how you bet, the game is still the same, and the game is always in the casino's favor. If you decide to use a betting system, we recommend going into the session expecting to lose, but to have fun. Then if you do happen to get lucky and win, you'll be in a much better mood.
